Skip to 0 minutes and 13 seconds The modern world is a fast moving place with people leading busy lives struggling to find time for themselves. We rush through life on autopilot, lossed in our thoughts without noticing what’s going on around us. But research shows that paying attention to the present to your own thoughts and feelings and to the world around you can improve mental well being, and this awareness is known as mindfulness. Mindfulness helps us to cope with life’s difficulties and stresses. As such, it is a useful tool for anyone involved in mental health provision, which is why the University of Glasgow has created this short online course exploring the concept and its application.

Skip to 0 minutes and 53 seconds A course which is aimed at anyone who wants to improve their knowledge of mindfulness may be of particular interest to teachers, parents and people working with young adults and teenagers. Mindfulness is used by people of all ages, but throughout the course we primarily offer suggestions of how mindfulness can be of value in your own life and for younger people. The course explores the ways in which mindfulness can be applied in daily life, introducing the application and evidence for mindfulness in education settings. There are case studies of young people have used mindfulness and we examine the role of mindfulness and helping with anxiety, focus, exam stress, compassion, and improving well being.
